Yesterday was the first time I put on a cage.  I loved it and my wife allowed me to take it off for the night, because she was concerned about erections.  I personally do not want to take it off and allow her to keep the key on her.  So, I am curious as to what you do?  Do you keep it on or take it off at night. If you keep it on, how painful is it?  Do you only sleep on your back?  Any advice would be appreciated.

My desire is to be caged permanently.

If you want to be caged permanently you need the cage at night when you sleep too. When the cage comes off your hands need to be  hand cufted behind your back.  Your wife will need a set of hand cuffs.  This way you cannot touch or play with what is hers.   It might be painful at night with erections, but this is what permanent chastity is about. Your wife can wear the key around her neck on a neck lace.  You will learn how to sleep with the cage on.  She needs to require you to get a Prince Albert piercing so the permanent becomes more permanent and the cage will be escape proof.

It is very painful at night at first, but every submissive husband has to go through it. After a few months, sleep becomes good, only the morning erection remains painful. After 6 months to a year, it becomes milder and much less painful. The cage should be in length is flaccid penis or little smaller. If there is too much space the erection has momentum and is much more painful than when the cage is as long as a flaccid penis.

My first cage was bought specifically to wear at night, to stop inadvertent touching when asleep. It was horrendously painful and the whole thing nearly ended right there, but then I found out I'd bought completely the wrong cage for me.

About ten cages further on my trusted favourite is the fourth I bought, an open, ringed steel design about 1.75 inches long (Dunno why I kept going really). I now sleep pretty normally, on my back and both sides.

I'm in permanent chastity and not allowed any conventional orgasms, but not permanently caged. My wife also likes to use the honour system of chastity (which I scrupulously obey). My record being caged 24/7 with no uncaging at all is 35 days, though I have gone several months being caged with releases for PIV sex (no orgasm for me).

I do find that after a long period of honour, perhaps several weeks, it takes a few days for things to "bed in" with attempted erections during the night attempting to pull my balls clean off. But then things settle down.

If you want long-term caging you need to think about hygiene and comfort. Only you can find a comfy cage but I would counsel against closed designs and plastic/resin designs. I've tried these and they're damnably difficult to keep fresh without unlocking. Unobtrusive under clothing is also a thing.

As others have said, wearing it while you sleep is part of the program.  It's supposed to allow you to urinate, but otherwise have no access to your penis without your keyholders permission.  As to it being uncomfortable, you will find sleeping positions in which it is uncomfortable, and those in which it is comfortable.

If you have a chastity device that is a good fit, your overnight erections will initially hurt enough to wake you up, and you will likely be surprised how often that happens.  Over a period of days though, you will have fewer erections and less pain, and that's one of the purposes of being in chastity.  It's not only to deny you access to your penis when erect, but also to curtail your erections, especially those that are not for your wife's pleasure when and how she wants it.

If you don't wear it at night, even if you aren't full-on masturbating or looking at porn, you will still be fondling yourself intermittently while your wife sleeps.  Wear it while you sleep.  You'll get used to it.

Not everyone needs to follow the same recipe.

I don't have orgasms, whether or not I'm caged, without my wife being directly involved.

I get it: The whole "hands tied behind the back" would be a huge turn-on, and maybe some day if my wife asks me "Honey, what kind of kink fantasies would you like me to play out today for you?", then I will mention this one.

On the other hand, if your partner get off doing this, then by all means: Do it!

Remember, it's not about you.

It's best to have this all figured out yourself and not rely on handcuffs and your wife awkwardly putting on and taking off a cage.

Smaller the cage the fewer the erections.  Keep some hand or body lotion on the nightstand and put a squirt on the ring before bed and when you have the 4am boner.  All the pain is, is the penis pushing out the cage and the ring not sliding out against your balls skin.  Also the erection fills the ring and there is less room for skin to adjust, it a real tug o war.

Any nighttime erection, don't fight it, just go take a piss.  Put on a squirt of lotion and go back to sleep.  It's 15 minutes total.  And frequency reduces after a few weeks and all but disappears 30-40 days locked.

For me the night erections normaly dont cause any major problems, i might wake up but often go right back to sleep again.

If it gets bad, i sometimes do breathing exercises to calm me down and/or do the pee trick.
